FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The ICE-DDSM is a programmable Data Distribution and Storage Module
for an ICE processor module site featuring:

One Xilinx Virtex-II Pro programmed as
a data and packet router, sequencer, DDR ram controller, and Serial interface

Sixteen 16bit, 32Mby 200MHz DDR SDRAMs for short term memory

Eight high-speed serial links for data distribution or disk controllers
The Power-PC core in the Virtex-II Pro runs either a C program or Java
Virtual Machine to sequence the processing of data and command packets
from the module site as well as specific processing primitives called by
the host libraries.
Using standard Serial ATA drives, the module supports

8 channels up to 1Tby storage at 400Mby/s

4 channels up to 480Gby storage at 200Mby/s
Using serial distribution nodes, the module supports

8 channels (2.5Gbit/s each full duplex) to other modules for a total of
5.0Gby/sec
Each channel can be used as either a disk controller or distribution node.
